Gold Pan Mill
A gold pan mill (wet grinding pan) that crushes and amalgamates gold ore by rotating heavy rollers over a grinding pan – the low-cost plant for small gold miners.
General Introduction
The wet pan mill is a simple, rugged gold-recovery machine. Ore and water are fed into a shallow circular pan; two heavy rollers, driven by a central shaft, roll around the pan bottom and crush the material against it while a scraper keeps it in the grind path.
In gold use the slurry is often treated with mercury in the pan for amalgamation, or sent to a gravity concentrator and leach tank. Because there are no balls or liners to wear fast, running cost is very low.
It is the standard first-stage gold grinder for artisanal and small-scale miners who need to liberate values from 0-30 mm rock without the capital of a ball-mill circuit.
